One of the first articles I wrote for Backcountry was on the tricky subject of ski lengths, a subject made even trickier in the sight-unseen (and un-demo’d) world of online retail. While this article is short and technical, I think we did a good job of educating without over-educating, and I hope it makes the buying process easier for Backcountry customers.
While there’s no equation that looks like (height x weight)/(skill level)√magical number = perfect length in the skiing world, there are a few tips that can point you in the right direction when you’re trying to figure out which length of ski is right for you.
